Why Kashmir Is Not A Dangerous Flashpoint For World War III

Why Kashmir is not a dangerous flashpoint for World
War 3 ! This situation could really happen :-)

Between 60's and 80's, the cold war between US and
USSR was such that if USA launched a Nuke-loaded
missile, USSR's satellites were capable of nforming
USSR army in 3 seconds, and in less than 45 seconds
USSR would also launch its counter-missile. US knew
that, and therefore, never attempted to launch one.

Recent studies commissioned by US DOD included one
likely scenario on a nuclear war between India and

Cold Winter

It was autumn, and the Indians on the remote reservation asked their new
Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was an Indian
Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and
when he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather was going
to be.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the
winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village

What a day

Below is an old article I had written for IIIT magazine. I found it while browsing through some old archives. The article was written on July 30, 2003 and probably published a couple of days later.

Yes, We Can

My ex-schoolmate Kishore is part of a club called "Toastmasters" in Infosys, where members give short speeches on various topics. Below is a speech given by him related to voting. And this has definitely come from the heart.

Yes, We can - By Kishore Kaluri.

So, What am I going to talk about ? I am not trying to be a Mr. Obama here. So, I am not going to take up “Yes, we can”. So, remove the YES. What is left ? “We can”. No no no, juggle the words a bit. “Can we ?”

Two Choices

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query.

Voter registration likely to close by mid-March

A forward from Jaago Re! One Billion Votes

Dear Rahul,

Make the Jaago Re! One Billion Votes movement stronger

A few days back, Jaago Re! One Billion Votes movement hit a milestone of 300,000 online voter registrations. Is this a significant number? You decide:

* In the recent 2008 Rajasthan state assembly elections, a candidate lost by 1 vote
* In 2004 general elections, the lowest margin of victory was 74 votes
